Barrie
completed a MSc in Mycology
from the University
of Toronto Department
of Botany. Her thesis,
“Pyrenomycetes
on Wood in Ontario”
was supervised by Roy
F. Cain, a world authority
on the taxonomy of ascomycetes.
Barrie
joined the University
of Toronto in 1975 as
a research assistant
in the laboratory of
Dr. David Malloch, where
she continued to study
fungi. In 1981, after
having authored several
papers in mycology,
she became a biology
teaching technician
for the university,
offering instruction
in mycology, molecular
biology, cell biology,
and biotechnology. |
